Listed below are some of the various techniques and support therapies experienced physicians may utilize with treatment: Active Release Technique (ART) Most healthcare providers use techniques of massage, trigger point, electrical modalities and ultrasound with varying degrees of specificity to treat soft tissue problems. These all provide reasonable results but there is a much better way. ART is patented because it is different than anything else. This protects the public from healthcare providers who are willing to do it half way. To learn ART you must be serious enough to invest a great deal of time and effort to learn over 500 treatment moves or "protocols." More important than that, you must be able to develop a very advanced "feel" for the tissues and their texture, tension and movement. You must come to understand and evaluate the movement of each tissue relative to the one next to it and as an absolute value unto itself. This is an anatomy class like no other. The basic premise is simple, just not easy. Shorten the tissue, apply a contact tension and lengthen the tissue or make it slide relative to the adjacent tissue. It's as simple as playing a piano and just as difficult. We will teach you to find every tissue by touch and to make fast permanent changes in them. We will practice every single treatment protocol with you. You work on the instructor and we work on you so that you can learn at a much faster rate. Craniosacral Therapy CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics. CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body''s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. Graston Technique Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. Originally developed by athletes, Graston Technique® is an interdisciplinary treatment used by more than 12,500 clinicians worldwide—including physical and occupational therapists, hand therapists, chiropractors, and athletic trainers. GT is utilized at some 1,200 outpatient facilities and 33 industrial sites, by more than 200 professional and amateur sports organizations, and is part of the curriculum at 49 respected colleges and universities. Kinesio Taping The Kinesio Taping Method is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions. Both Kinesio® Tex Tape and the training protocol have shown results that would have been unheard of using older methods and materials. In the mid-1970s, Dr. Kenzo Kase was already a well-known Japanese practitioner licensed in chiropractic and acupuncture. He developed the tape, which has a texture and elasticity very close to living human skin, in response to limitations he encountered working with rigid sports taping methods on his own patients. Reiki Therapy Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. SpiderTech Taping SpiderTech Inc. is a newly formed company focused on the creation of innovative and effective functional medical products designed to approach pain management and myofascial dysfunction through the use of specialized elastic tape applications called “SpiderTech”. SpiderTech originated from the collaboration between a Chiropractor, Dr. Kevin Jardine and a client - an amateur athlete and successful industrialist. During a course of therapy to address a debilatative knee problem for the client, use of Kinesology Taping modalities led to two critical results: a remarkable efficacy, allowing the client to both regain pain-free mobility and resume his training regimen a partnership in the development of a complete range of engineered Kinesiology Taping solutions providing therapist and clients with effective, easy to use, treatment options utilizing the proven benefits of kinesiology taping. Manufactured using the proven tape products of Nitto Denko – manufacturers of the original Kinesiology Tape - SpiderTech is now a line of 16 pre-cut therapeutic and performance enhancing supports. The SpiderTech Professional line of product is the next evolution in the clinical use of kinesiology taping. With an ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation, combined with clinical feedback from therapist and clients, SpiderTech will be the industry leader in pre-engineered kinesiology taping solutions. Trigenics Technique TRIGENICS® is a neuro-kinetic, sensorimotor assessment, treatment and training system which instantly relieves pain and increases strength and movement. It is currently practiced by over 2000 doctors, therapists and trainers in 20 countries worldwide. The complex procedures used in Trigenics® retrain the way the brain communicates it’s movement and/or pain signals with the muscles of the body. The treatments are either manual or involve the use of instruments or exercise equipment. The beneficial effects are instantaneous and seen immediately. If Trigenics® is what they need, patients having suffered with physical pain syndromes and/or movement dysfunctions always see strikingly measurable results on their first visit to a Trigenics® practitioner. (See videos) This will be the case; no matter how long they have had the condition and attended other therapies or how many doctors or therapists they have seen. Strength trainers using Trigenics® Power Augmentation training procedures on their clients see an unprecedented acceleration of muscle strength and size without drugs. Zone Therapy Zone therapy, also known as reflexology, is a type of alternative medical treatment that uses specialized hand and foot massage as a means of treating mental and physical ailments. Its central foundation rests on the notion that the hands and feet are made up of five major zones on each side of the body that correspond with various health conditions. By massaging a particular zone, a therapist believes he or she can treat the corresponding condition. The first major zone in zone therapy is referred to as the center zone. This zone is simply the big toes and thumbs on both the left and right sides, which are meant to correspond to the body parts and organs that are located in the center of the body, including the brain, heart, intestines, and reproductive organs. A zone therapist will massage the big toes and thumbs as a means of treating any physical or mental conditions affecting these areas. The rest of the zones in zone therapy represent either the left or right sides of the body and are ranked second through fifth. The second major zone is located on the left side of the body and includes the left index fingers and left second toes. Massaging these areas is intended to also treat some areas that the center zone treats, including the brain and intestines. The zone also represents the stomach, eyes, and spleen.

Check out the Chiropractic techniques below: Activator Methods InternationalThe Activator Method is one of the most widely-researched chiropractic techniques and the only instrument adjusting technique with clinical trials to support its efficacy. Activator Methods has published hundreds of clinical and scientific peer-reviewed papers, worked with major academic research institutions, and received grants from recognized entities like the National Institutes of Health.Advanced OrthogonalUtilizing state-of-the-art, percussion and sound wave adjusting, the Advanced Orthogonal procedure offers patients a gentle and precise treatment for the correction of upper cervical subluxations. Advanced BioStructural CorrectionAdvanced BioStructural Correction™ is an advance in the ability of any doctor or person to correct life structures (bio = life). Dr. Jutkowitz isolated the few factors that have been missing in health care and correcting body structures. Knowing these factors one can then correct body structures and have people be healthy.Applied Kinesiology (AK)Applied kinesiology (AK) is a form of diagnosis using muscle testing as a primary feedback mechanism to examine how a person’s body is functioning. When properly applied, the outcome of an AK diagnosis will determine the best form of therapy for the patient. Since AK draws together the core elements of many complementary therapies, it provides an interdisciplinary approach to health care. Blair TechniqueThe Blair chiropractic technique is a specific system of analyzing and adjusting the upper cervical vertebrae of the spinal column. When these vertebrae misalign in such a way as to interfere with the brain stem and spinal cord as they exit through the floor of the skull and into the neural canal. Special attention is given to the first two cervical vertebrae, the atlas and axis, as they are the most freely moveable vertebrae in the spinal column and the ones most commonly misaligned.Bio-Geometric IntegrationBio-Geometric Integration is a conceptual understanding which enhances the chiropractor's knowledge of the human body. BGI seminars provide an understanding of the innate geometry of the body and force dynamics surrounding the creation and release of subluxations. The philosophy, science, and art of chiropractic are examined from a post- Newtonian point of view, providing the opportunity to express and understand chiropractic in accord with contemporary science. Through understanding the innate geometry of the body, the chiropractor is able to more effectively and gently release the subluxation and assess the effectiveness of the adjustment. The geometric understanding of the body also serves to bridge the gap between the many techniques of chiropractic by providing a common language and understanding from which to converse.Chiro + Plus KinesiologyCPK is integrated chiropractic technology encompassing Applied Kinesiology, Clinical Kinesiology, Sacro-Occipital Technique, Autonomic Response Training and Electro-meridian Therapy. The CPK technology is exclusively taught to licensed health care providers who have selected Chiro+Plus Kinesiology as part of their continuing education. CPK does not provide a full spectrum education in each component being integrated, and recommends additional training in each of these specialty methods. The CPK focus is to train our method of integration using the essence of each specialty.Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP)Chiropractic BioPhysics®, or CBP®, is, in short, a higher level of chiropractic. It is a more knowledgeable, comprehensive, systematic, scientific approach to chiropractic, that provides predictable results for patients and will contribute to building a more stable and successful chiropractic practice. Support for this claim includes a considerable amount of data from research, the experience of numerous flourishing CBP® practitioners, and the longevity of the approach. CBP® combines standard chiropractic joint adjustments with mirror image® (opposite position) postural adjustments, mirror image® spinal/postural exercise, and mirror-image® traction to provide more permanent relief and improved health for patients through spine and postural correction.Cox - Flexion Distraction TechniqueCox Technic flexion-distraction and decompression is a well-researched, well-documented, and proven-effective technique for decompressing spinal nerves and treating low back pain. It's a gentle, non-surgical, no-force procedure that helps the spine heal properly - and keeps it as pain free as possible.Directional Non-Force TechniqueDirectional Non-Force Technique® chiropractic methods utilize a diagnostic system for subluxation analysis consisting of gentle challenging and a unique "Reactive Leg Reflex.tm" This testing allows the body itself to indicate the locations and directions of misaligned structures that are producing nerve interference. Gentle and directionally specific thumb impulses provide long lasting corrections to both bony and soft tissue structures. D.N.F.T. chiropractic thrusts are able to achieve these structural corrections without the torque, strong force, and associated articular sounds that are often associated with traditional chiropractic. D.N.F.T. Chiropractic is a patient oriented approach that provides maximum, long lasting relief in a swift and effective manner. Low numbers of initial visits without the need for frequent follow up is the clear intention of this method. Gonstead TechniqueThe Gonstead Concept of chiropractic begins with a basic biomechanical principle of physics. Every engineer, architect, builder and carpenter knows the importance of a proper foundation in constructing a building, for this insures durability and long life. Any slight change or shift in the foundation can cause a great amount of deviation in the top part of the structure and, perhaps, ultimately, its collapse. The body’s foundation is formed by the pelvic girdle. When this bony structure consisting of hip bones and the lower bones of the back is level, there will be maximum balance and stability in the spinal column. When the pelvic girdle or any of the vertebrae (bones making up the spinal column) become tilted or rotated out of their proper position, dramatic changes may occur in the body. Logan Basic TechniqueDeveloped by Logan founder, H.B. Logan, DC, Logan Basic is one of the lowest-force adjustive techniques. The technique is based on light, sustained force exerted against a specific contact point on the sacrum at the base of the spine. Auxiliary contacts at various points in the spine, or along specific muscles such as the piriformus, also can be used. Basic Technique uses the muscular structure surrounding the sacrum as a lever system for balancing the entire structure of the spine.Motion PalpationMotion Analysis gained acceptance as a standard diagnostic tool for the chiropractic profession. Motion palpation is now taught in chiropractic colleges throughout the world including Western States Chiropractic College. Motion Palpation is a diagnostic technique used to locate joint dysfunction within the spinal column and extremities. This method of spinal analysis, also called Motion Analysis, is based upon the conclusion that a vertebra cannot be displaced or remains displaced if some anomaly in the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, articular capsule, etc.) does not cause and perpetuate its malposition. Therefore a study of the normal and abnormal movements of all the vertebral joints and eventually all the extra spinal joints was done to determine whatever anomalies in motion could be found in relation to subluxations. Methods of palpating, and later of measuring mobilities, were developed before and after different adjustments.National Upper Cervical Chiropractic TreatmentNUCCA practitioners focus on very specifically and gently adjusting the Atlas vertebra, bringing it back to its proper position. The Atlas, or the topmost bone in the spine, located just below the brain stem—is the first of the 7 vertebrae in the spine known as the cervical spine (C spine). Thus, the Atlas is also called C-1. Network Spinal AnalysisNetwork Spinal Analysis™ is an evidenced based approach to wellness and body awareness. Gentle precise touch to the spine cues the brain to create new wellness promoting strategies. Two unique healing waves develop with this work. They are associated with spontaneous release of spinal and life tensions, and the use of existing tension as fuel for spinal re-organization and enhanced wellness. Practitioners combine their clinical assessments of spinal refinements with patient’s self assessments of wellness and life changes. Greater self-awareness and conscious awakening of the relationships between the body, mind, emotion, and expression of the human spirit are realized through this popular healing work. NSA is exclusively practiced by Doctors of Chiropractic in relationship to the identification and self regulation of spinal tension and subluxation patterns. NeuroMechanicalThe clinical goals of this technique are to reduce pain and increase function by creating more movement of the bones leading to greater stimulation to the nerve receptors. Some patients are uncomfortable with the traditional chiropractic techniques that may involve twisting and popping. This technique can be used instead of those techniques. Impulse adjusting involves a controlled thrust and has the fastest thrust of all the chiropractic techniques. The faster speed allows the thrust to be delivered before the body has time to tighten up or guard. In addition, the frequency of the impulse adjustor has been fine-tuned based on research to the natural frequency of the body. NimmoReceptor-Tonus Technique, commonly known as Nimmo technique, was developed by Dr. Raymond Nimmo of Granbury, Texas. His scientific explanation of the principles involved in the development of myofascial pain syndromes, which resulted in spinal subluxations, brought the chiropractic community to understand how normal reflex arcs transition into patho-physiological reflex arcs. Dr. Nimmo developed a precise system of analysis and techniques to break those vicious cycles. Pettibon InstituteThe Pettibon System represents evidence-based expertise from fellow chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, neurosurgeons, cardiologists, physiatrists, bio-medical engineers, nutritionists, physical therapists, and even those outside the health care profession such as physicists and chemistsProAdjuster GroupAdvances in computers and engineering technologies have been able to uniquely blend with Chiropractic in order to both analyze and treat the human body in such a way that was never before realized. The potential for the human being to end pain and to achieve their peak nervous system function has never been greater. Humans are consistently asking their bodies to perform at higher levels. Now we have the techniques and the technology to match the demand placed on the spine and the nervous system.Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT)Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a paradigm of assessment and treatment developed by M. B. DeJarnette, DO, DC. SOT utilizes a category system of analysis to help generalize patients into three distinct categories, which helps to determine three identifiable, yet interrelated, systems of body reaction. SOTO-USA offers two 4-seminar certification series, one for SOT Certification and the other for SOT Cranial Certification. The SOT Certification Series encompasses SOT Categories Part 1 & 2, Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique (CMRT) – viscersomatic reflexes and visceral manipulative methods, and SOT Extremity Techniques. The SOT Cranial Certification Series encompasses an Introduction to Cranial Palpation and Treatment, Cranial Sutural and TMJ Techniques for Dental Chiropractic Co-Treatment, Cranial Clinical Application Techniques, and Craniodural Assessment and Treatments. The main corrective mechanisms employed in the correction of these positional and functional patterns of imbalance are pelvic blocks and hands-on adjusting techniques. The specificity and flexibility of SOT allows the chiropractor to choose either low-force or standard HVLA adjusting techniques based on the needs and condition of the patient. This offers methods of treatment for chiropractors who want to practice long past retirement age, for smaller doctors to treat large patients, and limit stress to the doctor’s hands and wrists. Thompson TechniqueThe Thompson Technique is another method of adjustment that involves analyzing the length of the legs. This technique uses a ‘drop table’ for adjustment, where a gentle thrust is applied to the joints, which in turn, sets the drop piece into motion and targets the specific joint or tissue. After completing a leg check analysis, your chiropractor will determine the type of misalignment – cervical, pelvic, etc,- and then adjusts the legs using a combination of multiple thrusts on various joints. Torque Release TechniqueTorque Release Technique® was developed out of respect for non-mechanistic, non-linear timed sequence adjusting priorities and embraces The Brain Reward Cascade model.
