Another Stroke Story in Manitoba, Canada

The Health Minister of Manitoba, Theresa Oswald, agreed to meet with Pat Chevrier and other members of Winnipeg Chiropractic Stroke Survivors today.  Pat Chevier is an anti-chiropractic crusader who blames her son’s stroke on a cervical manipulation.

Her group is asking the provincial government to remove chiropractic from covered medical services, currently the province pays between 25 and 30 percent of the cost of chiropractic visits. She also wants a ban on ‘high neck manipulations’.

This is not her first attempt at attracting political attention. In 2009 she spoke to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba’s Standing Committee on Human Recourses spouting the same rhetoric .

This story first appeared on CBC,  the Winnipeg Free Press and was picked up by MSN Canada.
